Biography

Black 47 started out with 2 Irish expats in the Bronx in October 1989. The band got the name Black 47 from Larry Kirwan's grandfather who used the term black 47 in relation to the 1847 Irish potato famine. Among all their success they are also known for bringing politics back to Punk, when no one else had been. Issues pertaining to the conflict in Northern Ireland.To date the band has released a number of albums including: Black 47, Fire Of Freedom, Home Of The Brave,Green Suede Shoes,Trouble In The Land,New York Town,and Iraq.
